Natalie Portman and Moses Ingram lead riveting trailer for ‘Lady in the Lake’

Apple TV+’s upcoming adaptation of Lady in the Lake has a riveting, stunning trailer that will perplex you no end.

Created and directed by Alma Har’el, the seven-part limited series is based on Laura Lippman’s lauded 2019 novel, which was inspired by the real disappearances of Esther Lebowitz and Shirley Parker in 1960s Baltimore.

Lady in the Lake connects two strangers in the city around Thanksgiving 1966; Natalie Portman plays Maddie Schwartz, a Jewish woman who wants to become an investigative journalist and explore her potential beyond her home, and Moses Ingram plays Cleo Johnson, a Black woman who’s trying to provide for her family while enduring the racism of 1960s America.

When Cleo is found dead by Maddie in a lake, Maddie becomes obsessed with what happened to her as well as a missing young girl, and she inserts herself into the police investigation — but there’s much more to the story than it seems.

How to watch: Lady in the Lake premieres on Apple TV+ on July 19 with the first two episodes, followed by episodes every Friday through August 23.
