Joy Behar Calls Out “Rigged” Emmys For Failing To Award ‘The View’

Joy Behar is calling out the Television Academy for failing to award The View with an Emmy.

The ballsy moment came at the start of the panel’s interview with Rachel Maddow, who stopped by this morning’s episode to promote the second season of her Ultra podcast. But first, she praised The View’s co-hosts.

“It’s so good to be here. I’ve been looking forward to this,” the MSNBC host said as she settled into her seat. “I like talking to you guys. And I feel like your conversations are getting smarter and smarter and smarter. I always learn something.”

She continued, “I love the way you guys talk to each other and how decent you are to each other. The View is better than it’s ever been.”

Behar then took her opportunity to put the Television Academy on blast by quipping, “So, where is the Emmy?” before Sunny Hostin chimed in, “Yeah, well, that’s a whole other thing.”

The View lost the awards for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series to The Kelly Clarkson Show and Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Host to Live‘s Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos at the June 7 ceremony.

“It’s rigged!” Maddow jokingly exclaimed, referencing Donald Trump‘s reaction to losing the 2020 election to President Joe Biden.

Behar echoed, “It’s rigged. I’m just gonna say that. Every time I lose something, Im gonna say it’s rigged. Why not? [Trump] says it.”

Maddow suggested that Behar “say it in advance, so that when you lose it, people know it’s not your fault,” to which Whoopi Goldberg joked, “Yeah, but you can’t say it about your virginity.”

While The View didn’t take home any major awards at this year’s ceremony, Goldberg, Behar, Sherri Shepherd, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Barbara Walters did win the award for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Host in 2009.

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
